Post digital Knit is a new exhibition by Knit:Design:Research whose practice challenges the boundaries conventionally associated with knitting. The exhibition includes a series of responsive installations that explore artistic and scientific phenomena through the medium of knitting. The interactive exhibition showcases work that shifts in colour and adapts in form in response to changing external conditions.
Alongside the knitted pieces, this exhibition considers how the use of technology disrupts traditional making processes, and what hybrid approaches have been developed that integrate both the programming interface and a tacit understanding of material behaviour.
Post Digital Knit explores how digital technologies and craft thinking can enable the responsive, the adaptive and the bespoke.
